The order most families end up following.
First
Decide what matters.
- Confirm POA or executor authority first.
- Pull deeds, insurance, financial papers.
- Set aside heirlooms, photos, key documents.
- Mark what the family keeps.
Then
Sort the rest.
- Estate-sale items → an estate sale company.
- Donations → we pick up, you get the receipts.
- Discards → we haul them.
- Don't do it alone. Burnout is real.
Last
Clear the house.
- Estate sale held, if there is one.
- We haul what didn't sell.
- Donation receipts mailed to the family.
- Photo PDF for the estate file.
- House ready to list or hand off.
